The best advice anyone can give for disaster preparedness is to be prepared. When an
emergency occurs, those who have prepared in advance will fare far better than those
who are caught off-guard. To help your family survive a disaster, it is important that
they have an immediate supply of the essentials required to survive. Probably the most
important is a supply of food and water. The SCNDPP has prepared a long list of items
that the fully prepared family will have on hand when needed. These items would be
awfully hard to come by if you decided to get them all at one time, but with a little
planning all of these items can be accumulated over a period of time. The best way to
start is to prepare a short list off the grocery items you would need for the first day
or so after an emergency.
