Cleaning and Repair Of Horse Clothing and Tack
Blanket cleaning and repair as well as tack repair is now available, usually within a one-week turn around time. If you board your horse at a working or training barn in the Bonanza-Beatty-Bly area, contact us to see if you are eligible to receive free pick up and delivery. If you  keep your horses at home, contact us for directions on where you can drop off your items for cleaning and/or repair.

Cleaning is done in a commercial-sized washer that has no agitator. This means there is less wear and tear on your blankets while they are being cleaned. Only a very mild and environmentally-safe detergent is used. Since some horses can develop an allergic reaction to fragarances, we make certain to use a cleaner that is fragarance-free. Items are dried on a line, not in a machine, which again not only lengthens the life of your blankets, but also helps them smell fresher. We highly recommend that blankets be cleaned on a regular basis, even if you choose to clean them yourselves. The ammonias found in urine and manure are acidic to fabric, greatly reducing the strength and life of the clothing, making it easier for horses to rip. The worst thing that many people do is to store dirty blankets for summer. The sun and heat will bake all those ammonias into the fabric, leaving permanent stains and weakening the fabric. When you are ready to store your blankets for the summer, please make certain to clean them first!

Many damaged blankets look to be beyond repair. Some rips appear so dramatic that many horse owners simply throw it away. In most instances, the repairs are relatively simple in spite of how impressive they may look. If the fabric is not rotted by the sun or weakened from not being cleaned on a regular basis, it is almost always cheaper to repair damaged clothing than to purchase new blankets. We never charge more than the worth of the item, and if it looks like it will cost too much to repair, or if the item is not worth repairing, we will always contact you for a final decision before beginning repairs.

Tack repairs are also available. Many common repairs are the leather keepers on bridles and reins, new snaps on leadropes and halters, replacing bridle hooks on reins, replacing the elastic buckles on girths, putting on nameplates or replacing grommets for nameplates on halters, restitching or replacing velcro on shin boots, bellboots, sport medicines boots, and legwraps. Repairs can be made on most any leather item that is not over 3/4" thick. Contact us if you are wondering if we can make a repair for you.
