January, 2006

Jan. 2006 - Cirque du Soleil
Time: TBD
Place: San Jose
Coordinator: Vicky Wolfe,  wolfemom@earthlink.net

Cirque du Soleil's new show, Corteo, will be in San Jose January 19 to March 5, 2006.  But those of you who share Vicky's devotion to Cirque du Soleil know that you can't buy your tickets too early...the good seats will go like hot cakes. Tickets are on pre sale now only to Cirque Club members, but since you can become a member for free, there's no reason not to join and snag great seats now...that's what Vicky will be doing as soon as she finds out who's interested in going and we choose a performance date.
Check out the information at http://www.cirquedusoleil.com/CirqueDuSoleil/en/showstickets/corteo/intro/intro.htm and then let her know what dates look good to you. I'll compile the information and get back to those of you who want to go.

Jan. 7 (Sat.) - Ano Nuevo Elephant Seals
Time: TBD
Place: Ano Nuevo Point
Coordinator: Christine Clevenger, ckclev@yahoo.com

Jan. 21 (Sat) - Land Based Whale Watching (Date Tentative)
Time: 12:00 noon
Place: The bar at the Rocky Point Restaurant, 12 miles south of Carmel on Highway 1.  If you get to the big Bixby Creek bridge, you went a couple of miles too far.
Coordinator: TBD

Enjoy whale-watching without taking Dramamine.  The Rocky Point sits on a high cliff above the Pacific.  On a REALLY clear day you could probably see San Diego.  In the second half of December and the first half of January, the Grey Whales migrate by about a quarter mile offshore.  The migration peaks in mid-January. The bar has big picture windows, a fine bartender, and great garlic cheese bread.  Bring binoculars, sunglasses (Polaroid's are best), and money for drinks.  (The restaurant part is really good too -- VISA has featured it in their "we don't take American Express" commercials -- but pricey by some people's standards).

We'll organize a carpool for those interested, meeting at the Light Rail station at Cottle Rd. and 85 in South San Jose at 10:00 a.m.

Jan. 22  (Sun.) - Diving Singles Meeting
Time: 7:00 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.  (the room will be available for socializing from 6:30 p.m.)
Place:  Round Table Pizza, 101 Town and Country Village, Sunnyvale
Coordinator: Sharon Bagby, sharon.bagby@lmco.com
