Bill & Kelly's

1998 GTP
What can I say about this fine machine?? Wow. That's about it. Drive one, and you'll be left speechless. That's about all I can say. I came from an '88 IROC-Z with the big 350 cubic inch V8, and this car impressed me enough to make me (and my wife) buy it right off the lot, and trade the ol' Camaro in. It helped that the car was a dealer demo, so we got a good amount off the sticker price, as well as 0.9% financing. We also got the dealer to toss in the 6 yr/100,000 mile warranty. Here's a picture of us the day we bought the car. Nice of the dealer to snap a shot, huh?

This little puppy's got 240 horsepower on tap, and rides ten times better than the ol' IROC. And, I can actually haul passengers! The IROC required that the passengers in the rear seat either be shorter than Kelly and I, or have no legs.
This car has got every gadget and option available. (Except for the rear child seat. Don't need that.) ["Yet, says Kelly."] And a sunroof. The ol' IROC had T-Tops that I *never* removed, so I didn't see the need to cut a gaping hole in the roof of the car. ["But *my* Grand Prix has a sunroof," says Kelly.] Yep, Kelly's got a '95 Grand Prix SE. Liked it so much we decided to get another.
It should be called the Acronym-mobile. Our car's a GP-GTP, equipped with: (that's Grand Prix, Grand Turismo Production)
| HUD | Heads-up Display (a cool gadget that projects speed and radio information onto the windshield) ["Keeps Billy out of trouble," says Kelly.] |
| ABS | Anti-lock Braking System |
| DZ-A/C | Dual Zone Air Conditioning (another cool gadget that lets the passenger control their side's temperature. (Already avoided several arguments) |
| SRS | Supplimental Restraint System (this is an AirBag, to you and me) |
| CD w/ EQ | Compact Disk Player with Graphic Equalizer |
| DIC | Driver Information Computer (a trip computer that displays Avg MPG, Fuel Used, Range to Go, and Oil Life, other status messages. Also shows overall engine boost information [which is cool to watch, by the way.]) |
| SC | Supercharger (that's what makes this car SO fun to drive) |
| TCS | Traction Control System (This car needs it. A great boon in the rain. Luckily, you can shut it off for those times you want to go *fast*.) |
In addition to all that, the engine's got it's own set of acronyms, like MAF, TB, VSS, and TPS. Whew!
Getting back to the fun part: Here's a picture of the car in front of my work:

Some pictures of the interior of the car. These are my favorites, mainly 'cause of the gadgets!

Anyway, that's about all I can say for right now about the car, since we've only had it about three weeks. Already, I'm planning modifications to it... ["No you're not!"] <innocent whistle>
Here are some cool links in case you're interested in finding out more about the car.
