Configuring MacTCP

Open your Control Panels folder (via the Apple Menu).
Then open your new MacTCP Control Panel.
You should see several icons in the top part of MacTCP's window.
You'll need to click once on MacPPP's icon to select it.
The icon may say PPP or FreePPP.



Then click the More.. button below it.




You only need to make the following changes in this window:
Obtain Address: check Server.
IP Address: Class C
Then drag the slider bar below "Subnet Mask" as far to the right as it will go,
till the Subnet Mask reads 255.255.255.252

At the bottom is;
Domain Name Server Information:
Domain garlic.com IP Address 208.195.160.130 and check Default.
Domain . (a period) IP Address 208.195.160.130
Domain . (a period) IP Address 165.227.1.2
That's all you need to set in MacTCP. Easy, huh?
Now restart your Mac.

Configuring MacPPP

Open your new MacPPP control panel.
Click the New... button at the bottom of the window,
and name your configuration garlic.com.
Then select the port your modem is attached to, most likely the Modem Port.
Choose an Idle Timeout of None, turn Echo Interval Off,
and make sure that the only check box that is checked is "Hangup On Close".

Then click the Config... button.





You need to make sure the following
settings agree with your modem, but in general these should work best:

Port Speed: 57,600 for a 28.8k modem, 38400 for a 14.4k modem.

Flow Control: CTS & RTS (DTR) for 28.8k modem, CTS Only for a 14.4k modem.

Tone Dial

Phone Num: 6861000 for San Martin, 6365844 for Hollister.

For Modem Inits click here.

Modem Init: _________________________________(ALL UPPER CASE)

Modem Connect Timeout: 120 seconds

Now click on Connect Script.






Configure as above.

Click on OK

Then click on the Authentication button.






Your Auth. ID is your username, in lower case with a ppp: before it.
Your Password does not need any additional letters before it, but is also in lower case.
Set Retries to 10, and the Timeout to 5 seconds.

That's it! Close the PPP Control Panel.
