The vet said TROUBL was in pain and the farrier said his coffin bones were rotating.
He was a wonderful horse and could not be allowed to suffer so with a good-bye pat
he was euthanized 25 February 2010. He will be missed by his many friends.
The story with WINGS is very different. He has been unsound for some time, but not in pain and
is still being ridden. Over the years we have tried several farriers and several different types
of corrective shoeing to improve the situation.
Nathan Konshak, our latest farrier, who has been very successful in dealing with a variety
of shoeing problems, offered to try doing WINGS. He recommended a similar construction (rock-n-roll)
but different materials. Instead of using metal shoes Nathan made rock-n-roll shoes using “sneakers”
(plastic coated aluminum shoes) and plastic pads for the “rockers”.
The change was immediate. As soon as the new shoes were put on WINGS, it was obvious he was a
different horse thanks to the new, softer shoes. He looked more relaxed, he stood square and his
stride doubled. We are thrilled with the results!!!
THANK YOU NATHAN!!! If you are looking for a good farrier, we highly recommend him. Give Nathan

Over the years I have taken several Dobies to obedience classes at Albree Training in Sacramento.
Owners, Renee and Alan Miller, are trainers and breeders and I have the utmost respect for what
they do.
When tragedy stuck KISSIE, I sent them an e-mail that I would not be bringing KISSIE back for classes
and why. I received a thoughtful condolence response from Renee and a wonderful offer. She had a
Rottweiler bitch that had been shown and then had three liters of puppies that was now due to retire
and needed a home. I am now sharing my home with CAFÉ. She is a joy l!!!
To everyone who worked so hard to make the February Tack Swap a success!
