CALLING ALL COW HORSES…   OR WANNA BE COW HORSES!

LBHA TIM THOMAS COW CLINICS

The Tim Thomas Cow Clinics that LBHA  has sponsored  in the past have been   met with   great success and several riders have asked LBHA to schedule them again this year.   Tim has had more than enough to keep him busy up  at his new training facility in Cool, but he has graciously agreed to do  more Beginner and Advanced Cow Clinics in the LBHA arena .  The  clinic date is scheduled for November 3.    You can pre-register for the Beginner Clinic, from 8:30 AM to noon, or the Advanced Clinic from 1PM  to 4:30 PM, or both!

The cost of the sessions has gone up due to increased cattle and other costs.  The cost for each clinic is $65 for members of LBHA.  All riders must be LBHA members.  If you are not a member, you can join the day of the event.  Single membership is $15, Family $20 and Business $25.

If you plan on riding in the  clinics, you will need to send in a non-refundable deposit* for $30 to hold your spot in either the Beginner or Advanced clinic as soon as soon as possible.  Remainder of the Clinic fee may be mail in before the clinic date or paid at the clinic.  Names  will be been taken down  for  both clinics, but  we need your check to hold that spot.  We are limiting the number to 10 riders this time in each clinic.  Your deposit will hold  your position.  So, don’t miss out, send that check to hold your spot. We need a minimum of 6 riders in each clinic to make it a go.  *NOTE: deposits will be returned if clinic is cancelled - if there are others on the waiting list and you have to cancel, your deposit will be returned.  Waiting list deposits will be returned if clinic is full or applied to the next clinic if you wish.  If you send in a deposit.  PLEASE note on the check the date of the clinic and which session, Beginner, Advanced,  or both.

So, if you think you’ve have a little ‘cow’ in your horse, here is the chance to learn how to work a herd of  longhorn steers. (Tim prefers using longhorns because they are calmer.) Previous experience by horse or rider is not required in the beginner class. It doesn’t matter what breed or type of riding style you have.  We have even had a couple of  Warm Bloods and other breeds you would not think would like to work cattle.  But all enjoyed it.

Tim describes the jobs for horse and rider. You work the herd individually and with other riders as a team. If you are in the advanced group, the work is more intense and you should have either taken the beginner session,  have a horse with a little experience, or be a rider with a little knowledge of working cattle. If you are not sure which session to sign up for,  give  LBHA a call.  Sound like fun? Call Kathy Dombrowski (652-5204)  or e-mail LBHA  at lbha@vfr.net  and register. Better yet send a check to LBHA  P.O. Box 2326 Loomis CA 95650  to hold your spot.

NOTEParticipation with your horse in LBHA clinics are restricted to Loomis Basin Horsemen Association members due to insurance liability. However, if you are not a member, you can join in advance or before the clinic. Yearly individual membership is $15, or a family membership is $20.  For more information, contact Kathy Dombrowski at lbha@vfr.net OR call 916, 652-5204. Check the LBHA web site www.garlic.com/~lbha for information on activities and links to other horse sites.
