HOW HAVE OUR RIVERS, CREEKS, LAKES,

AND BAYS CHANGED OVER TIME?

To find out how our bodies of water were in the past, and to learn how people lived near them, students will investigate:

Historic documents

Pictures

Newspapers

Interviews with old-timers about their personal histories and their relation with the local bodies of water

Students will look for the following information:

What were the frequent problems people had with water?

How did the bodies of water affect spare time, health, culture and industrial progress?

The history of water in our regions will be represented and shared by maps, pictures, narrative texts, videos and graphics. Information from Brazil and California will be compared.

 

 

To find out how people have been involved through social movements, political action, and economic interest with water and water pollution the students will investigate:

Historic documents

Pictures

Newspapers

Interviews with old-timers about their personal histories and their relation with the local bodies of water

The interactions of people and water will be represented and shared through graphics, pictures, stories, poems and artistic performances. Information from Brazil and California will be compared.
