Reflection

You will revisit this again in Topic 8. For now just think about this information. By the time you finish your project you will want to review this information. Remember that learning spirals and builds.

Now that you've decided on a project and have been working to plan your project take some time to consider how you will get support for your project. While it is possible to work collaboratively with other schools without incurring any costs, you may have noticed that some projects have costs to join. Some web tools are available for free, but others have costs involved. School technology budgets do not include money for collaborative web based projects, so you will want to explore funding for software, equipment, and for joining projects. You may be able to ask for some funding from your classroom or school SIP budgets. Digital High Schools may have funds to support you, but most schools won't have additional funds to assist you.

Consequently, it will be important to get buy in from parents, administrators and the community. A carefully written project plan can be your best friend. Often getting even a small grant or award can be leveraged to get support from your school, parents and community.

The following websites give information on grants available to schools and teachers. There is no guarentee that all lists of grants listed are current and up to date.
