The Dome of the Rock was built in 691 AD by Abd El Malik ibn Mirwan, the Omayad Khalif. It was built on the site of the First and Second Temples. In the Dome of Rock is Mount Morah where Abraham took his son Isaac to sacrifice him, and Muhammad is supposed to have ascended into heaven.

The Tower of David is actually part of Herod's Citadel. The tower was used as Minaret Tower and Moslem prayer house.

The Western Wall, also known as the Wailing Wall was built during the period of the Second Temple. The wall is a holy site fore the Jewish people. It is a place where people come to pray.

The dome on the mosque is made of gold. The blue Persian tiles are inscribed with passages from the Koran.

The Temple Mount

This is the area between the El Aska Mosque (second most holy Moslem site) and the Dome of the Rock. The Dome of the Rock can be seen behind the trees in the background.

Bethlehem

Near Jerusalem is Bethlehem in Palestine. This Church is a Greek Orthodox Church called Gasilica of the Nativity is built on top of the place where Jesus of Nazareth is supposed to have been born.

The Rock of Agony where Jesus prayed the night before he was arrested is in this church. The church is also called the Basilica of the Agony. This is where Jesus and is Disciples went the night of his betrayal by Judas. This church was built in the 1920s by 12 nations. It is built on the ruins of Byzantine and Crusader churches.
