THE COLONEL'S CACHE WW1 INSIGNIA

Item WW01 --SOLD--

Item WW02 - Here is the complete uniform for a sailor who was assigned to the USS MISSISSIPPI during WW1. He was from Nebraska and the set comes with lots of family church documents for his parents, his wife, him and his children. Also has an official document from the state of Nebraska honoring this mans WW1 service. Signed by the governor. Jumper has gun pointer insignia on one sleeve and sharpshooter insignia on the other. There are a few small moth holes and some fading but nothing nasty. Pants are there and show wear but again, nothing nasty. The cap is the early pancake style with the inner lining. Has a faded tally with "USS MISSISSIPPI" on it. There are two holes in the underside and the cap is faded to an almost brown color. Clearly named. Great set with lots of documentation and extras. You just do not find complete WW1 USN uniforms to a battleship sailor! --$290--

Item WW03- WW1 enlstedman's collar discs. These are all original WW1 issue and have the back nut. Many others available.

Item WW04-WW1 enlistedman's wool tunics. Standard issue. All buttons. These are all in good shape with very minor mothing. No insignia. Size 36. --$75--

Item WW05- Pattern 1917 tunic. Size 36-37 General HQ tunic. Super veg. ivory buttons(except for the two top pocket buttons). These have no shank but have two holes for the thread to sew them onto the tunic. Very nice GHQ patch and US and Infantry (HQ) discs. Corporal stripe and two overseas stripes. Nice depot tag with 1917 date. Scattered mothing throughout -$124-

Item WW06- Super lot here. Late war “rough cut” 5th Division tunic. Has “A company” infantry and US collar disc as well as 1 bullion overseas stripe. No rips, tears or stains. Nice 5th Div. patch on right shoulder. Contract tag in the lower right pocket. Top two buttons need to be sewn on and one of the "eye" closures at the troat is missing. Includes a very nice M1917 helmet that has a painted base and 5th Division insignia. Good liner and chinstrap. Best item is a 5th Division history. This has been repaired but all 424 pages are there including many maps of the campaigns. Dated 1919, this is a great compliment to the uniform and helmet. --$325--

Item WW07- Nice , hardly used WW1 cotton tunic. This is greenish in color. Has US and Quartermaster discs at the collar. Real nice quartermaster sergeant stripes on the right sleeve. Nice clean buttons that have not been smashed or had the shanks bent. Other than some slight staining under the arms, this coat is clean. No rips, tears or other stains. Measures 39 inches at the chest and 30 1/2 at the sleeves. -$99-

Item WW08- Here is another nice cotton tunic. This one is for a quartermaster corporal. This coat was made by The House of Kuppenheimer. There are a couple of minor snags and some fraying to the cuffs. Not bad though. One of the neck closure hooks is missing. There is also light shadows where there were unit patches on each sleeve. Has one bullion overseas stripe. Comes with a pair of slightly lighter cotton breeches. Standard issue with the zinc buttons at the fly. -$99-

Item WW09-Here is a real nice cotton khaki WW1 7th Corps tunic. Small size but there are no rips, tears or stains. Interesting that while the patch is hand applied to the tunic and apears to be quite original, there are no other patches on the tunic nor does it appear that there ever were. All the buttons are there. No collar discs. One of the grommet holes seems a little close to the edge. Not a big issue. Just put a disc a little bit to the right and cover the hole with it. Anyway, The patch is bullion on wool. Very nice tunic. --$110--

Item WW11-Large sized 89th Division tunic. About a size 40, this tunic is a private purchace. Has scattered mothing but displays well. Has USNA and Artillery discs, sergeant stripes and gunners rate on the right sleeve and 3 bullion overseas stripes embroidered directly to the left sleeve. Veg. ivory buttons with one missing and one that needs to be resewn. -$135-

Item WW12-Kinda hard to find nice WW1 US Navy officer uniforms. Here is a nice ensign uniform. Named in both the tunic and trousers. No rips, tears or moth damage on the outside but the tunic lining has some tears where the swordbelt might have rubbed. Not visable in display. The coat has the ensign stripe at each sleeve and the left sleeve has an overseas stripe. So, this guy was there! This set comes with a nice officer cap. Grazing to the visor but the visor is not loose. No rips, tears or moth damage. The lining whicker with a pat. date of 1913. The whicker is cut to let the top crush a bit for style, like the earlier Span Am era caps. Nice complete set worthy of research. -$425-

Item WW13-- If all you want is an ensign coat, here is the deal for you. Nice clean tunic with correct anchor insignia at the collar and a single bullion stripe at each sleeve. Line officer star above the stripe. No rips, tears or stains but it does show normal wear. The inside is in good condition except where the lining of the collar has worn badly. Not a detraction from display. Coat is unnamed. ---$175--

Item WW14 -- Here is a nice WW1 USN officer's blue visor cap. Grazing to the visor but the visor is solid. A bit of visor trim is missing. Wonderful bullion eagle insignia. Correct chinstrap and side buttons. Lining is good and there is no moth damage at all. Sweat stained on the top but still displays quite well. Very nice form. Hard to find the caps any more. --$215--

Item WW15- --SOLD --

Item WW16- Nice set of unissued tunic buttons. 5 large coat ones and 6 small ones for the pockets and shoulder straps. Nice to have spares or a complete set for a nice tunic restoration. --$25--

Item WW17- US WW1 Victory Medals. These are original issue with no problems. Correct wrap broach pin and original ribbon. No claps. --$30--

Item WW18- SOLD--

Item WW19- Standard 3 button pullover shirt but shows lots of use. Has wearout spots under the arms, Repair to the left pocket, 3repairs on the front, and some minor goles scattered about. There is also a tear at the left shoulder. This would look fine on a manequine under a jerkin or coat. It is what it is..... --$30--

Item WW20- Nice used but quite servicable US QMD army trouser belt with brass buckle. This is the standard issue belt. Measures 40 inches overall and would fit up to a 38 inch waist. No fraying. Nice....--$27--

Item WW21- Super USMC bell crown dress blue visor cap. This even has a white cover! The cap is in very good condition. There is a 1/4 inch cut (?) on the top that does not detract from use or display. This is a private purchace. The top front shows a slight seam repair, not a detraction. The visor is firmly attached. Sweatband is there and supple but loose in a few spots. The frame is whicker and as you can see, the form is perfect! Overall, this cap is as good as any I have seen. The brass EGA appears to be correct. It has been repaired: screwpost epoxyed inside. Seems to hold well. The white cotton cover(shown on a different frame) is in great condition as well. When was the last time you saw one of these? It was on the cap when I got it and I suspect that is one reason the cap is in such good condition. It fits the cap tightly but the button holes do not quite line up. I did not put the cover back on as it does cause stress to the cap frame during installation. --$675--

Item WW22- Nice WW1 officer's campaign hat. High quality, stiff felt hat. There is no sweatband so no maker mark. There is a paper union tag and someone has put in a felt/wool sweatband. No size tag but it measures about 22 1/4 inches around the inside. Nice hat for wear or display. -$55-

Item WW23-Nice WW1 enlistedman's visor cap. 3 very minor moth nips on the top and the rest of the cap is clean. Visor is firmly attached and not scratched or bent. Chin strap is there, a bit rough, but at least it is there. One of the side buttons is not correct. The insignia is painted stamped brass. Sweatband is there but coming loose in back. No size tag but it fits a styrofoam head well. Nice maker markings inside. Nice overall cap. -$110-

Item WW24- Here is a selection of hat cords for the campaign hats. These are all original, no reproductions. From left to right: Signal Corps, Artillery (SOLD), Engineer (1920-30s). Second row: Medical Corps, Army Field Clerks. --$25 each--

Item WW25- SOLD--

Item WW26- Here is a M1911 US Army campaign hat that has the 1916 upgrade of metal grommets for the leather chin strap. Has the correct 5 rows of stitching around the brim edge. Leather sweatband is a little brittle and has no markings. The hat shows use with some soiling and minor moth tracks. There is very minor hole on the side that does not detract from use or display. There is no size tag but it seems small. Overall, a nice representitve WW1 campaign hat. -$74-

Item WW27- Here is another M1911 US Army campaign hat that has the 1916 upgrade of metal grommets for the leather chin strap. Has the correct 5 rows of stitching around the brim edge. Nice leather sweatband but no markings. The hat shows use and has some minor moth tracking. There is a small tear on the rear of the left side crease. Not a serious issue for display. Under the sweatband there is a size tag (size 7) and a union lable. Overall, a nice representitve WW1 campaign hat. -$65-

Item WW29-WW1 style cotton breeches. These have the zinc, US Army buttons at the fly. Faded khaki and some wear but good for display. Small sizes.--$25--

Item WW30- Nice solid 9 pocket, mounted infantry ammo belt with pistol pouch. These are getting real hard to find anymore. This one is dated 11/18 and made by LONG. Has a couple of light green stains and 90 years worth of storage dust/dirt. Should clean up nice. The pistol clip pouch is also made by Long and dated 9/18 --$155--

Item WW31-WW1 web pistol belt with the saber hanger. This was used by officers and NCOs. Hard to find these is good condition. This one has seen use but still has lots of life in it. All brass fistures. Marked inside "HQ 86." The brass has no maker marks or stampings. Maybe a Russell manufacture. --$75--

Item WW32-Unissued US Army Browning Automatic Rifleman's belt. These have the 4 BAR clip pouches and a double 45 automatic clip pouch on the belt. There is a steel cup on the right side that was used to hold the butt of the BAR while the rifleman advanced and fired. A really unique WW1 infantry display item. Maker marked and WW1 dated. Some very minor soiling from storage. --$90--

Item WW33- WW1 unissued and 1918 dated US Army 45 automatic pistol clip pouch. Lift the dot snaps and in perfect condition. --$20--

Item WW34- M1910, lace up leggings. These are hard to find pre-WW1 leggings. Nice condition, used but servicable with the correct, brass tipped laces. --$35--

Item WW35- The standard WW1 legging most often found. Again, good servicable condition with the brass tipped laces. --$25--

Item WW36-This WWI US Army Trench Mirror was designed to be attached to end of a bayonet. The photograph shows WWI British troops using this minor which we copied from our ally like so many other items. I cannot find any markings on it. Dirty from storage with some paint chips, but the mirror is not broken or scratched. Great for reenacting or display. --$32--

Item WW37- Lightly used, US Army pistol lanyard. dated 1917 these wre used to secure the Colt pistol from loss when out of the holster. No problems with these, just some storage stains and dirt. --$39--

Item WW39- Nice 1918 messkit. No dents or dings. --$24 ea--

Item WW41- WW1 eating utencils for the messkit. Knife, fork and spoon. Knife and fork come with the little leather scabbard. --$25 for a complete set--

Item WW42- Nice 1918 dated canteen with a 1917 dated cover. Great for display. Minor dents on the canteen and stains to the cover. --$27--

Item WW43- Well used but displayable WW1 canteen cover with the cavalry strap set up. The leather is cracked and would not hold up to use. The snap looks to be a replacement. Cover is dated 1917. No rips or tears and the cover snaps are good. -$32-
