Jessi, named after a doll, is herself one of a lifetime. A well-balanced Belgian Tervuren, she has been a winner from her first time in the ring and her greatest success was finding that glove with Dick at age ten. We hope there will be a few sheep in her future.
She is always ready and willing to accompany us in any activities. A trip to the airport and a flight is taken in stride. This will lead Jessi to a new place to investigate and new friends to meet - from the snowy mountains of Lake Tahoe to the sunny beaches in Bermuda or from the high and dry Mexico City to the crystal reflections of Canada's Lake Louise. In each of the differing places, Jessi won not only titles, but more importantly the hearts of those who met her. She is the ultimate diplomat with everyone she meets and loves sharing her toys with newcomers as well as old friends.
She completed her Championship out of the puppy class with a Group IV at ten months, being one of many Group Placements she has received. At three years she achieved her UD.
Jessi is the first Belgian, any variety, CH UD in four countries (United States, Bermuda, Canada, Mexico). In Canada, Jessi completed her Championship with four-three point majors and her Obedience titles in three trials each. She is a multi-Group placer as well as an International Champion having six CACIBS and her CACIT including a Temperament Test, Tracking Test and Obedience. She was the first States Kennel Club Champion in California and is also Champion of the Americas 1990. In 1987 she received a High-In-Trial in Mexico.
Jessi earned her CGC and Therapy Dog International certification and serves at our local hospital where she is openly welcomed by staff and patients alike.
If "you can't teach old dogs new tricks" at least you can let Jessi show her natural abilities - a Herding Tested at the age of 11. One of the judges commented: "Dog is 11 years old but 4 in spirit".
She has a dark face, full dentition with a scissors bite and a tight ear set which creates a lovely head. A light red mahogany coat is the finishing touch to this square prize package. She has had four litters which presented her through 1993 with the honor of BAR-CX. Jessi is the key to our hearts and expects that extra attention above all else with her favorite toy - a Frisbee.
Jessi's wonderful "children" and "grand-children" earned her a P-BAR in 2004. This was primarily done by "grand-children" in the herding venue.
We lost her 1/25/95 to gastro-intestinal cancer only weeks after she earned her HT. We had planned to continue her career in herding and Jessi was ready to be entered in TDX tests at the time.
