Marjji came here at ten weeks and the next day began the games that everyone else calls training, but for Marjji it was play. She had already become a great traveler and after the incubation time until four months when she had her initial shots she was out and about constantly.

She began her obedience, conformation, tracking and agility training at home. Even to this day she has had few classes as such. Four months was the time she began her KPT class at Santa Clara Dog Training Club and early on was ahead of others in her class in obedience. One of the dogs in her class was a beautiful white Standard Poodle and they became friends. Meanwhile their “parents” became friends and now Marjji and Hero are best friends.

Marjji was entered in conformation and obedience the weekend after she was six months and took a single point which was all that was available all three days and then spent two of those days in the novice obedience ring. Sue thought Dick was crazy and she was a nervous wreck, but Marjji and Dick passed both days. The following time Marjji was shown she completed her CD and the next day passed her TD, but Sue wasn’t in the area either day.

Marjji continued her “playing” including the teeter for agility which she would play on by herself as it was low and on the back patio. She was learning open obedience and going through all the items with the jumps set at 8 & 12 inches. When she was nine months old she had spent enough play time with open and put all the exercises together so was shown and in a very short time she and Dick had earned her CDX. Meanwhile she had been “playing” with utility and going through the usual situations learning the articles which to Sue are always a problem. That shouldn’t be the case as she was the 10th dog we’ve taught utility even though two of them never attained a UD.

Last summer learning to work on both sides of Dick and trying out new obstacles Marjji earned her NA & NAJ. There were also many hours spent in and out of the little swimming pool, but when Marjji went to cool off, so did Frisbee. Frisbee gets a drink in Marjji’s water bowl as well when the pool isn’t filled.

Later last summer the Rottweiller National was at Bolado Park at Hollister Fairgrounds and the perfect opportunity to try Marjji out for her ATTS test. Well it was a great idea as she passed. Earlier that week at Oak Hill Ranch she and Dick earned both legs of her HT much to Sue’s amazement as she had been herding less than a half dozen times.

Marjji did have an eating problem for awhile, Sue couldn’t interest her in many things. Then we learned that she thought she had to earn her dinner and all of a sudden this turned around. Marjji ate almost everything presented.

Marjji has been doing pet therapy since she was certified at just over a year and everyone at our local hospital and nursing home fall in love with her. She seems to be very popular where ever she goes and absolutely loves people and other dogs. She has even had some dealing with some “family” kittens and done extremely well and has been most patient with them.

February 2010 we had majors at both shows at Santa Clara Valley Kennel Club and she won both to complete her Ch. with extra minor points. This was the completion of her Ch UDT to make her our 7th Ch UDT. Interestingly she was the first one to complete this with her Ch... others completed theirs with their UD or TD.

Marjji takes a walk with Dick most days in the park when she isn’t doing TDI - per therapy. Many times Dick lays track and then she runs this while they are gone. Then this spring Marjji PASSED and found the glove to earn her TDX.

Since then she has made a bit of progress in agility, but not enough to mention as yet. She does love her agility trials and Dick says he is having trouble keeping up with Marjji.

Marjji is just a bit spoiled... her favorite things are to play ball or frisbee, but she is a “happy camper” and has a tremendous zeal and lust for life usually with a wide smile on her face.

Marjji enjoys all activities including:

Conformation

Obedience

Tracking

Agility

Herding

Versatile Companion Dog
