Item AW01 - Awesome 1930s mess dress uniform for a Veterinary Major. Named to H.Cox. Herbert M. Cox is listed in the Army Register as born in NY 16 Aug 1898. Served on active duty with Co. I of the 107th Infantry during WW1 and received the Purple Heart. After the war he graduated from Cornell U. and began service in the Veterinary Corps in Aug. 1924. Promoted to Major Aug. 1936. Continued to serve until 1943 and I guess he retired. Died in 1978 and is buried in Arlington. No additional research done on him. The uniform is in very nice condition. The coat has the wool maroon lapels and sleeve rank of a major. The medical insignia are incorrect and modern clutch back style. The Purple Heart is also a clutch back but appears quite old. The WW1 victory medal is pinback but the catch is broken. The trousers are the style with the maroon stripe (Medical Corps) with white trim. No rips, tears or stains on either piece. The sleeve lining is coming loose at the armpit. That is the only issue I find. The shirt, tie and cummerbund are not included. --$325--
